Davenport to Re-Open with Public Life, Writing Centers

The building is receiving an entirely new electrical system, heating and cooling system, domestic water system and waste system. The piping, pictured, is for the heating and cooling system. It will carry medium temperature chilled water, medium temperature chilled water return, hot water supply and hot water return to the chilled beams which are used for heating and cooling.

Contractors use a davit to hoise a limestone coping cap on the fourth-floor terrace. The fourth floor will house The Shapiro Creative Writing Center and a Certificate Program in Creative Writing. A meeting room will overlook the terrace.

Facilities for the proposed Center for the Study of Public Life principal program elements include collaborative research involving faculty from Wesleyan and other institutions, a New Initiatives Center, non-traditional courses in public affairs, a program of public lectures, fellowships and other forms of public outreach.
